Chapter History

The Evergreen Chapter of the American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) was chartered in 1975.  On January 17, 1975, Doris Fultz sent a letter to Patient Account Managers requesting their participation in an initial planning session.  This first meeting was held in Seattle, on February 7, 1975, with approximately thirty interested persons in attendance.  The chapter was officially formed in March of 1975.  At that time, the name "Western Washington Chapter" was selected by the thirty-two founding members.  Renamed "Evergreen Chapter" in the early 1980's, the organization has grown in prominence within the healthcare community and has become one of the most active, respected and progressive chapters within National AAHAM.

Professional growth, as reflected in the certification of members, has been a primary goal of the organization from its inception.  Coaching sessions have been given on a routine basis to all members interested in professional certification.

The Evergreen Chapter proudly recognizes two of its members for their service to National AAHAM; Lee B. Spingelt, CPAM and Doris Fultz.  Lee has served as President and Chairman of the Board.  Doris Fultz, honored as a lifetime member of the Evergreen Chapter, has made significant contributions on both the local and national levels, serving as President of National AAHAM.

AAHAM Evergreen Chapter continues to make progress for patient accounting professionals through the efforts of its members and their involvement in the healthcare industry.  While we are proud of our accomplishments, we recognize the need to continue working toward positive solutions that will improve patient accounting for the future.
